Hello! I’m Erika Lynet Salvador, a proud Filipino international student pursuing a double degree in Statistics and Mathematics, with the possibility of adding Economics as a third major, all on a full-ride scholarship. My academic interests lie at the intersection of quantitative social sciences and public health economics. I am to utilize data-driven solutions to address economic inequalities in health, education, and finance.
I’ve been fortunate to engage in three research projects, two of which I began during my first semester at Amherst College. Currently, I’m collaborating with Dr. Katharine Correia from the Statistics Department on two projects: one focusing on racial and ethnic inequalities in reproductive medicine, and another examining bias in hazard ratios for endometriosis studies. Additionally, I’m working with Dr. Caroline Theoharides from the Economics Department and Dr. Susan Godlonton of Williams College on a joint project investigating the effects of migration on local policy development in the Philippines, particularly in reproductive health. My third project involves assisting Dr. Ever Osorio-Ruiz from the Sexuality, Women’s, and Gender Studies Department with data mining on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook.
Outside of research, I find joy in blogging and creating art, which provide me with a creative outlet and a sense of balance alongside my academic endeavors. As a published artist and writer, my work has appeared in various literary journals and newspapers. I also enjoy immersing myself in Korean media, including manhwa series and dramas.
